Genesis released their first studio album, From Genesis To Revelation, on March 28, 1969, through Decca Records. The band was formed by students from Charterhouse School: Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips, and drummer John Silver. This debut effort marked the beginning of their long career in music.

Production and Concept

The album was produced by Jonathan King, who played a significant role in shaping the band's early sound. King discovered Genesis and suggested the name, drawing inspiration from the biblical theme that permeates the album. He arranged the songs around a concept that follows the narrative of creation.
