Exploring White Noise's "An Electric Storm"

Released in 1969 by Island Records, "An Electric Storm" is the debut album of the British electronic experimental group White Noise. This project emerged from the collaboration of David Vorhaus, an American classical bassist and electronic engineer, with pioneering figures from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Delia Derbyshire and Brian Hodgson. Together, they operated under the collective name Kaleidophon.

Innovative Soundscapes

The album is characterized by its use of extensive tape manipulation and loops. Early synthesizers, notably the EMS VCS3, play a crucial role in shaping its sound.
