Tako is a progressive rock band formed in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1975. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1978 by ZKP RTV Ljubljana, showcases their unique blend of rock genres. The album features six tracks that highlight the band's musicianship and creative vision.
The album was recorded at Studio M in Novi Sad during June 1978. Katalin Farkaš served as the producer, ensuring a polished sound that captures the band's experimental spirit. The engineering team, including Ileš Ištvan and Stevan Tibai, played a crucial role in bringing Tako’s sound to life. The cover design by Jugoslav Vlahović and photography by Slobodan Turić complement the album's sonic aesthetic.
Tako's music blends a variety of influences, including psychedelic rock, symphonic prog, and space rock. The sound draws comparisons to bands like Pink Floyd, Camel, and Jethro Tull. The album features lush synthesizer arrangements and intricate guitar work, which are hallmarks of the genre. The use of flute and Mellotron adds an additional layer of depth to their compositions.
The album opens with "Probudi Se," an energetic introduction that sets the tone for the rest of the record. "Sinteza" incorporates jazz elements, demonstrating the band’s versatility. "Utapanje Sunčeve Svetlosti U Peščanu Memoriju" offers a more introspective experience, characterized by its evocative melodies. The centerpiece of the album is the 16-minute track "Druga Strana Mene," which showcases the band’s ability to weave complex musical narratives. The record concludes with "Minijatura," an acoustic piece that provides a reflective ending.
The band consists of Dušan "Dule" Ćućuz on bass guitar and vocals, Đorđe Ilijin on keyboards and flute, Miroslav Dukić on lead guitar and vocals, and Slobodan Felekatović on drums. Each member contributed to the songwriting, reflecting their collective vision.
