Memento Z Banalnym Tryptykiem
SBB's album, Memento Z Banalnym Tryptykiem, was released in 1981 by Polskie Nagrania Muza under the catalog number SX 1966. This work marked the final studio effort from the band before their initial disbandment later in 1980. Recorded in February 1980 at the Polish Radio Studio in Opole, the album showcases a blend of symphonic progressive rock and jazz fusion, reflecting the band's evolution during this period.
The lineup for this release expanded to a quartet with the inclusion of Sławomir Piwowar, who contributed guitars, clavinet, and Fender electric piano. Piwowar, previously associated with Niemen and Aerolit, brought a fresh dynamic to the group. The album's first side features three tracks, beginning with "Moja Ziemio Wyśniona," which serves as an expansive introduction. Following this, Piwowar's composition "Trójkąt Radości" offers a distinct instrumental experience. The side concludes with "Strategia Pulsu," featuring contributions from Apostolis Anthimos and Jerzy Piotrowski, who composed and performed intricate rhythms.
Side B is dedicated entirely to the title suite, "Memento Z Banalnym Tryptykiem," spanning 21 minutes. This composition highlights extensive guitar interactions between Anthimos and Piwowar, showcasing their technical proficiency. Józef Skrzek's arrangements with multiple synthesizers add depth to the overall sound. The interplay between rock and jazz influences creates a rich auditory tapestry, making this suite a central component of the album.
