Arti & Mestieri emerged from Turin in 1974, a time when the Italian music scene was rich with experimentation. The band released their debut album titled "Tilt - Immagini per un Orecchio" in October of that year. This album, translated as "Pictures for the Ear," was distributed by Cramps Records under catalog number CRSLP 5501.

Band Composition

The lineup of Arti & Mestieri included several talented musicians. Drummer Furio Chirico, previously associated with The Trip and I Ragazzi del Sole, was a founding member. Gigi Venegoni played guitar and synthesizer, while Beppe Crovella contributed with electric piano, synthesizers, and mellotron. Other members included Marco Gallesi on bass, Giovanni Vigliar on violin and vocals, and Arturo Vitale on saxophones and vibraphone. The album was produced by Venegoni and Paolo Tofani, who was part of the band Area.

Musical Style and Influences

Unlike many of their contemporaries, Arti & Mestieri did not conform to the symphonic progressive rock style typical in Italy during the 1970s.
