Introduction to Zarathustra

The band Zarathustra emerged from Hamburg, Germany, in 1969. They released their self-titled album in 1972 through Metronome. This album is the only release by the band and is a reflection of the Krautrock and progressive rock movements of the time. The name "Zarathustra" is taken from Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophical work, "Also sprach Zarathustra."

Musical Composition

The album features a blend of rock elements characterized by intricate guitar work, prominent organ sounds, and varied percussion. Klaus Werner plays the Hammond organ, providing a rich backdrop to the music. Wolfgang Reimer contributes guitar and vocals, while Ernst Herzner leads with his distinctive vocal style.
