Before this album, Don Shinn was part of several bands, including The Lonely Ones and The Soul Agents. He gained recognition for his rock arrangements of classical pieces, which influenced many musicians, including Keith Emerson. Shinn's career included work as a session musician, notably on James Taylor's debut album. After living in Norway for many years, he returned to Southampton in 1995.
