The cover artwork was designed by the renowned design duo Hipgnosis, known for their distinctive album covers.

Musical Features

The album contains five tracks, beginning with the expansive "Small Beginnings," which runs for 9:23 minutes. This track became a hit single, edited for radio play, and reached #29 on the US Billboard charts. Flash also features "Morning Haze," an acoustic folk-prog ballad, and "Children Of The Universe," which lasts 8:55 minutes. Another highlight is the 13-minute "Dreams Of Heaven," a symphonic piece that showcases the band’s progressive rock influences. The album closes with "The Time It Takes," rounding out a diverse musical experience.

Key Contributors

In addition to Banks and Kaye, the album features Colin Carter on lead vocals, Ray Bennett on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Mike Hough on drums. Carter also contributed to the lyrics and incidental percussion, while Bennett provided lead vocals on "Morning Haze." This collaboration brought together a unique blend of talents within the progressive rock genre.

Flash's debut album achieved notable chart success, reaching #33 on the Billboard Top 200 in the US. The success of the single "Small Beginnings" played a pivotal role in elevating the album's visibility and sales.
