Time Ride
Jeronimo's third album, Time Ride, was released in 1973 through Bacillus Records. This album marks the end of the classic era for the German hard rock and blues-rock trio. The band, consisting of Michael Koch on lead guitar and vocals, Gunnar Schäfer on bass and guitar, and Manfred "Ringo" Funk on drums, delivered a collection of tracks that blend various rock sub-genres.
Produced by Peter Hauke, Time Ride was engineered at Dierks Studios in Stommeln by Dieter Dierks. Both Hauke and Dierks also contributed guest percussion and backing vocals on the record. The striking front cover design was crafted by Klaus Holitzka, inspired by a concept from Helmut Wenske. This visual element plays a significant role in the album's presentation.
The album comprises nine tracks that exhibit a mix of heavy boogie riffs, fuzz-laden blues rock, and progressive melodies. The title track, "Time Ride," sets the tone for the album with its engaging sound. Other standout tracks include "There Are People," which stretches over six minutes, and "Do You Still Remember," both of which showcase the band's dual-vocal harmonies. The combination of these elements creates a distinctive sound throughout the album.
The lineup features Michael Koch on lead guitar, keyboards, and vocals, alongside Gunnar Schäfer on bass, guitar, and vocals, and Manfred "Ringo" Funk handling drums, percussion, and vocals. The collaborative nature of the band members adds depth to the musical experience presented in this album.
Time Ride was released in vinyl LP format. As a product of the early 1970s rock scene, it captures the essence of the genres it represents. The album's production techniques and instrumentation reflect the era's musical trends.
