Continuo
"Continuo" is a studio album by the Czechoslovak progressive rock band Collegium Musicum, released in 1978 on the Opus label. The album features a blend of rock, art rock, and progressive elements, showcasing the band's musical prowess and innovative arrangements.
The album consists of three primary compositions. It is framed by two lengthy tracks, beginning with "Pavučiny" (translated as "Cobwebs"), which runs for 16 minutes on Side A. This expansive piece sets the stage for the band's intricate musical journey. The title track, "Continuo," occupies nearly 17 minutes on Side B, providing a fitting conclusion to the album's thematic exploration. Bridging these epic compositions is the shorter piece "Autoportrét Slobodného Umelca," which adds a contrasting element to the album's structure.
The lineup of Collegium Musicum during this recording includes several talented musicians. Marián Varga plays the piano, organ, and synthesizer, contributing to the album's rich sound. "Continuo" was recorded in December 1977 at Opus Studio in Pezinok, Czechoslovakia. The recording process was overseen by Ján Lauko, with sound engineering managed by Peter Smolinský. The technical assistance was provided by Ivan Minárik, ensuring a polished final product. The cover art was designed by František Kudláč, encapsulating the visual essence of the album.
