In 1973, the Slovak progressive rock band Collegium Musicum released their album titled Live under the Opus label. This album was recorded during two live performances at the Concert Hall of Czechoslovak Radio in Bratislava on July 21 and 22. The recording captures the band in a dynamic format as a power trio.

Band Composition and Roles

The trio consists of three prominent musicians. Marián Varga plays the organ and is also credited with composition. Fedor Frešo handles the bass guitar, contributing to both the musical composition and the driving rhythm. Dušan Hájek plays drums and percussion, further enriching the sound with his rhythmic contributions. This setup creates a unique soundscape that relies heavily on the organ, with no guitar or vocal elements present.

Musical Structure and Content

Live features four extended instrumental pieces, showcasing the collective creativity of the group. The first side of the album includes the collaborative work titled "Burleska" and the initial segment of "Si Nemožná." The second side continues with "Si Nemožná Part II" and concludes with the expansive 13-minute suite named "Monumento." This structure allows the band to explore intricate musical themes and improvisation, characteristic of the progressive rock genre.
