Introduction to Nowy Horyzont

Nowy Horyzont, released in 1975, is the second album by the Polish progressive rock trio SBB. This album marks their first studio recording, following their live debut in 1974. It was released under the Polskie Nagrania Muza label with the catalog number SX 1206. The band consists of Józef Skrzek on bass guitar, piano, Moog synthesizer, and lead vocals; Apostolis Anthimos on guitar; and Jerzy Piotrowski on percussion.

Musical Exploration

Nowy Horyzont departs from the raw blues-rock sound of SBB's previous release. The album delves into more intricate progressive rock structures, featuring a blend of symphonic and avant-garde elements. The first side contains four tracks that highlight the band's versatility. The album opens with "Na Pierwszy Ogień," a driving piece that sets an energetic tone. Following this, "Błysk" delivers an upbeat rhythm, while the title track, "Nowy Horyzont," showcases Skrzek's skillful piano and Moog synthesizer playing, incorporating classical influences. Side B: A 20-Minute Suite

The second side is dedicated entirely to "Wolność Z Nami" (Freedom With Us), a 20-minute multi-part instrumental suite. This composition features heavy guitar textures and complex rhythmic changes. It also includes experimental synthesizer interludes that reflect the band's creative ambitions. The suite exemplifies the progressive rock genre's exploratory spirit, pushing the boundaries of traditional song structures.
