Autograph, a progressive rock band formed in Moscow in 1979, released their self-titled debut album in 1986 under the state label Melodiya. The band, led by guitarist Alexander Sitkovetsky, gained prominence after their performance at the Tbilisi Rock Festival in 1980. They were also the only Soviet act to perform via satellite during Live Aid in 1985. This backdrop set the stage for the release of their LP, which features a blend of symphonic rock and hard rock elements.
