Food Brain is a Japanese supergroup formed in the late 1960s, known for its unique blend of psychedelic and progressive rock sounds. Their sole studio album, "Social Gathering" (晩餐), was released on September 10, 1970, by Polydor. The band features four prominent musicians from the Japanese "New Rock" scene. These include guitarist Shinki Chen, keyboardist Hiro Yanagida, bassist Masayoshi Kabe, and drummer Hiro Tsunoda.
"Social Gathering" is an instrumental album that showcases a fusion of heavy psychedelic blues, angular jazz-rock, and improvisational jams. The tracks feature intricate time signatures and a blend of distorted organ sounds with fuzz guitar riffs.
