Coming On Again
Tucky Buzzard emerged in the early 1970s as a British hard-rock group, formed from the remnants of the psych-pop band The End. This debut album, "Coming On Again," was released in 1971 in the UK and later in 1972 in Spain, under the Hispavox label. The lineup includes lead vocalist Jimmy Henderson and accomplished musicians Terry "Tex" Taylor on guitar, Nicky Graham on keyboards, Dave Brown on bass, and Paul Francis on drums, all of whom previously played in The End.
"Coming On Again" offers a blend of hard rock, blues rock, and orchestral elements. The album features raw guitar riffs reminiscent of British rock giants like Deep Purple and Free, underscored by powerful vocals from Henderson. The inclusion of orchestral arrangements, conducted by Waldo de los Ríos and performed by the Madrid Philharmonic Orchestra, adds a dramatic layer to the music. This combination sets the album apart as a unique entry in the early 1970s rock scene.
The album was recorded at Estudios Hispavox in Madrid, a notable studio for its production quality during this era. Rafael Trabucchelli, a prominent figure in Spanish music production, took on the role of producer, ensuring a polished sound throughout the album. The collaboration between the band and the orchestra elevates the listening experience, creating an engaging fusion of rock and classical elements.
The album includes various tracks that showcase the band's range and musical versatility. "Coming On Again I" and its subsequent counterpart "Coming On Again II" bookend the album, encapsulating the thematic essence of the work. Other standout tracks like "Believe Me" and "Here I Am" further illustrate the band's ability to blend rock with orchestral influences, providing a rich sonic experience. The lyrical content often reflects personal themes and emotional depth, contributing to the album's character.
"Coming On Again" is composed of ten tracks and exemplifies Tucky Buzzard's early musical direction. This debut album was recorded in 1971 and features orchestral contributions from the Madrid Philharmonic Orchestra.
