Assagai, the self-titled debut album from the London-based Afro-rock and Afrobeat group of the same name, was released in early 1971. The band featured a lineup of South African musicians in exile, including alto saxophonist Dudu Pukwana, cornetist Mongezi Feza, and drummer Louis Moholo. They were joined by Nigerian guitarist Fred Coker, bassist Charles Ononogbo, and tenor saxophonist Bizo Mngqikana.
