Realidad
Módulos, a Spanish rock quartet formed in Madrid in 1969, made their debut with the album Realidad in 1970. Released on the Hispavox label, this album marks a significant moment in the development of progressive and symphonic rock in Spain. With a lineup that includes Pepe Robles on lead vocals and guitar, Tomás Bohórquez on keyboards, Juan Antonio García Reyzábal on drums and violin, and Emilio Bueno on bass, the band crafted a unique sound that blends various musical influences.
Realidad is characterized by a combination of baroque Hammond organ passages reminiscent of Procol Harum and The Moody Blues, infused with flamenco-inspired guitar riffs. The emotional vocal performances of Robles add a poignant touch to the music. The album also features classical string arrangements, which enhance its symphonic qualities. The band's ability to merge psych-pop sensibilities with their rock foundation sets them apart in the Spanish music scene of the time.
Among the standout tracks on Realidad is the anthem "Todo Tiene Su Fin," which exemplifies the band's signature style. Other notable tracks include "Realidad," "Noche De Amor," and "Luz Errante," each showcasing the band's diverse musical palette. The album also includes symphonic rearrangements of popular songs like Lennon/McCartney's "Yesterday" and "Hello Goodbye," demonstrating Módulos' versatility and creativity.
The production of Realidad was handled by Rafael Trabucchelli at Hispavox Studios. This collaboration helped define the album's rich soundscape. The recording process allowed Módulos to experiment with different musical textures, which is evident throughout the album. The technical quality of the album is notable, reflecting the standards of the early 1970s Spanish music industry.
Realidad was released in 1970 as a vinyl LP under the catalog number HHS 11-196. This release represents a formative period for Spanish rock music, contributing to the evolution of progressive genres in the country.
