Riktigt Äkta
Released in 1992, "Riktigt Äkta" is the debut studio album by Landberk, a progressive rock band from Sweden. This album emerged during the early-1990s Scandinavian progressive rock revival, a period marked by the rise of bands like Änglagård and Anekdoten. "Riktigt Äkta," which translates to "Truly Real," showcases the band's unique sound rooted in Nordic traditions.
The album was recorded at Megaphon Studios located in Enköping, Sweden. It was released on the Norwegian label Colours, under the catalog numbers COSLP 010 and COS-LP 009. The band consisted of Patric Helje on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Reine Fiske on electric and acoustic guitars, Simon Nordberg playing the Mellotron, Hammond organ, and accordion, Stefan Dimle on Rickenbacker bass guitar, and Andreas Dahlbäck on drums and percussion.
"Riktigt Äkta" is characterized by its dark and melancholic atmospheres. The use of the Mellotron provides heavy choir and string swells, which contribute to the album's introspective feel. The lyrics are delivered in Swedish, enhancing the emotional weight of the music. Folk-infused acoustic elements are present, alongside dynamic guitar work reminiscent of King Crimson's heavier moments. This combination creates a sound that is both delicate and explosive.
Following the release of "Riktigt Äkta," an English-language re-recording titled "Lonely Land" was produced for international audiences. This version aimed to broaden the band's reach beyond the Swedish-speaking market while retaining the essence of their original compositions.
The album features six tracks, each exploring different themes and musical textures. Songs like "I Nattens Timma" and "Skogsrået" exemplify the band's ability to blend folk influences with progressive rock dynamics. The arrangements are intricate yet accessible, making them appealing to both fans of the genre and new listeners alike.
Landberk's "Riktigt Äkta" was released on vinyl LP format in 1992.
