This event contributed to the album’s rarity. The surviving master tape was sent to Rio de Janeiro in 1976 for remastering, which added sound effects missing from the original release.

Due to the limited number of original copies that survived the flood, Paêbirú has become a highly sought-after collector's item. Original pressings can fetch thousands of dollars in the market today. After the album, Zé Ramalho moved to Rio de Janeiro and achieved national fame with his self-titled album in 1978, which included "Chao De Giz."
