In 1972, Cosmic Eye, under the leadership of Amancio D'Silva, released the album Dream Sequence on Regal Zonophone. This record captures the essence of Indo-jazz fusion, interlacing elements of folk, rock, and spiritual jazz. The album was recorded at Lansdowne Recording Studios in London, a venue known for its contribution to British jazz.

Amancio D'Silva is a Goan-born Indian jazz guitarist recognized for his innovative approach to the guitar. With Dream Sequence, he assembled a talented lineup of musicians. The album features John Mayer on violin, who is noted for his work in Indo-Jazz Fusions, alongside sitarist Viram Jasani and tabla player Keshav Sathe. The intricate arrangements also include a rich flute choir, with contributions from Ray Swinfield, Derek Grossmith, and C. Taylor, complemented by an electric jazz-rock rhythm section consisting of Toni Campo on electric bass guitar and Derek Wright on drums.

Recording Process

This album was produced by Denis Preston, a key figure in British jazz who founded Lansdowne Studios and the Lansdowne Jazz Series. The engineering for the project was handled by Peter Gallen, ensuring a polished sound that highlights the intricate interplay of instruments. The sleeve design was crafted by Jill Oxley, adding a visual element to the album’s presentation.

Musical Composition

Dream Sequence is structured as two continuous side-long modal raga suites, titled "Dream Sequence Part 1" and "Dream Sequence Part 2".
