Midnight Sun, originally formed as Rainbow Band in Copenhagen in late 1969, transitioned to their new name due to a copyright issue with the former moniker in Canada. This change occurred just before the release of their self-titled album in 1971. The group re-recorded the vocal tracks of their earlier material with Allan Mortensen, who took over lead vocals from Lars Bisgaard. Their album was released on Sonet Records, catalog number SLPS 1527.
